Log Book
Production Portfolio; Life Style Magazines Student name: Mitra Naqi Candidate number: 6270 Fill in these sheets as a record of your decisions and revisions as you make your magazine as and when appropriate. Name of new Magazine: Attitude Genre of magazine: Fashion/Gossip Who did you work with on this production? Teiana Sukul What did you produce for this magazine? Front page Contents page Article page What original images did you take for your magazine? Two of the three images on my contents page were original, which features two of my own models. Which real media magazine did you base your magazine on? Company Why did you do this? I chose to model it on Company because it was well suited to the genre of magazine I wanted to create. I also believe that it’s very captivating. Who was your target audience? My aim was to target middle classed teen girls between the ages of 14-19. Looking at your flat plan and ‘creating your own magazine’ document state briefly why you made these decisions when creating your own magazine. I chose to target middle classed teen girls because my audience research suggested that this particular age group were highly interested in the genre of magazine I was creating. What did you change in these early stages of planning? In the early stages of the planning I changed the name of the magazine from “Fierce” to “Attitude”. I also changed the pictures on the contents page because the previous pictures didn’t look very professional and had unwanted items at the background. This meant the images were not suitable for a magazine they were more suitable for a news paper. Looking at your contents page, say why you chose this particular information to include rather than any other. I chose to include this specific information to include on my contents page because it highlights the main purpose of the magazine. It will also capture the attention of the audiences because the information on the contents page is genre specific and it’s what a fashion/gossip reader would be interested in. Why did you choose these images and not others? I chose these images on the contents page because they look very professional and also they represent the models in a very good looking, confident and sophisticated way. Looking at your front page, say why you chose this particular information to include rather than any other. This doesn’t apply to me because I worked with Teiana who created the front page. Why did you choose these images and not others? Looking at your article page, say why you chose this particular information to include rather than any other. I chose to include this information and not any other because it contributes to the gossip aspect of my magazine. Also today’s teens give a lot of importance to celebrities which means that they would be interested in my article since it’s a feature on a famous celeb. Why did you choose these images and not others? I chose these images because suits the story line of my article as well as representing the different sides of the celebrity’s persona. List below any decisions that you made that were important to the overall effect of your magazine in terms of your target audience. I decided to change the layout and images of the contents page which had an overall effect on my magazine in terms of target audience. This is because as I was creating the contents page I realised that the layout and the images were possibly slightly dull for teen girls and was rather suitable for a magazine that was targeted at adults. List below any decisions that you made that were important to the overall representation of the people and groups that were in your magazine and how this would appeal to or affect your target audience. On my contents I included a picture of Robert Pattinson who is an iconic and handsome celebrity. This was done on purpose to draw in the target audience as young teen girls are highly interested in good looking male celebrities. I included an original image of a female model who looks very beautiful and comes from ethnic minority. This is because in our research we realised that there were hardly any ethnic models and me and my partner wanted to create something original. We also wanted to promote ethnic models and make girls from all different back grounds feel good about themselves. If you had more time what would you have done differently? If I had more time I would have gone to a movie premier and taken my own images of famous celebrity. I would have liked to survey a huge number of people just to get a much more accurate idea of what the general public like. I would have also gone to a magazine publishing company and see how they created their front covers and features.
Audience Research
Me and my partner decided to create an audience research questionaire, which we then used to influence our final decisions.

24year old actor Robert Pattinson was born in London to Clare ( modelling agency worker) and Richard ( vintage car dealer). From an early age Robert was interested in theatre, music and modelling and as a young child he took part in several school musicals along with plays. Thanks to his mother Clare, Robert was able to begin his modelling career at the age of twelve. His career seemed to be getting off to a good start and he was soon receiving a vast number of contracts from different modelling agencies. But unfortunately this success wasn’t going to last forever as the number of contracts went down dramatically when Pattinson began to mature and entered manhood. "When I first started I was quite tall and looked like a girl, so I got lots of jobs, because it was during that period where the androgynous look was cool. Then, I guess, I became too much of a guy, so I never got any more jobs. I had the most unsuccessful modeling career”. Pattinson began his acting career by playing supporting roles in “Ring of the Nibelungs” and “Vanity Fair”, he eventually worked his way up and then went on to play Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and The Fire Of Goblet. For this role he was named British Star Of Tomorrow by The Times. Pattinson's acting career really began to elevate as he signed a contract with Summit Entertainment which includes four films based on the best number one seller books of the year “The Twilight Saga” written by Stephanie Meyer. ‘The Twilight Saga’ includes for movies: Twilight, New moon, Eclipse and breaking Dawn. Pattinson plays the role of 108 year old vampire (Edward Cullen) who falls deeply in love with a normal human girl called Bella. The films follow the ups and downs of their relationship along with the rivalry between the Vampires and werewolves. The first Twilight film was released in November 2008 and gave a boost to Roberts’s acting career as the film managed to earn over $375 m worldwide. The film managed to attract a wide range of target audience’s mainly young girls/women. It was due to his female growing fan base that Pattinson managed to win ‘The Sexiest Man Alive’ award in 2009. The second film in the Twilight saga ‘New Moon’ was equally successful and brought in $140.7 million at the box office. Yet again Pattinson’s career was soaring to success. But in an exclusive interview with attitude Pattinson hinted that he might not carry on acting after the Eclipse ( the final installment in the Twilight Saga). “I don't even know if I want to be an actor that long,” he said. "Acting was a passion of mine from an early age," he said, "but as I have grown older I have found other ways of expressing myself that appeal to me on a more personal level. I certainly hope this doesn't upset my fan base as they have made me who I am, but who I am goes a bit deeper than simply being an actor." Said Pattinson. Pattinson revealed that his hoped for the future were to become a singer and sign a record deal with Simon Cowell Syco record label. Robert maybe leaving the acting world but he certainly wouldn’t be leaving the spotlight anytime soon. And if you’re a big Pattinson fan worry not for you will be hearing many successful songs from R-Patz in the future. But for now Its time to say Farewell Pattinson, we wish you all the best.
